They put up a nice website too. I wonder if the sale would impact the price of the .ca version.

Incorporating private domains in public TBR auctions

Is it possible to include privately owned .ca domains in public TBR auctions similar to the DropCatch marketplace? What happens is that there’s a set minimum bidding price (determined by the auctioneer) for all domains regardless of their status. If somebody bids on it, they get included in the...

    Who closed their paypal account?

I’ve tried purchasing a domain thru PayPal. It goes to Dan’s account and I get an invoice. If there’s any dispute, I have 3 days after the invoice to notify Dan. Once the payment is made, the seller is notified so they could begin to transfer the domain under Dan’s account. The buyer is then...

    Who closed their paypal account?

I did not close mine as smaller transactions in Dan, Sedo and Afternic only have PayPal as the payout option. And some people prefer to use it, because it’s well-known, to send me money despite the expensive forex fees. Lastly, certain charities only accept cheque or PayPal for donations. But...

Credit card fees could be starting Oct 6

As a consumer, I don’t like to be charged an extra 3% for using a credit card that I’m already paying an annual fee for. I’d rather have a two-tier system where prices are either already inclusive of the 3% credit card fee or discounted by 3% if paying by cash. A good example would be a...

I just got served with a CDRP - What's next?

This is what every registrant should have access to — the right to appeal. Just like in any court system, the defendant can always make an appeal. Domains should not be handed over unless the evidence is beyond reasonable doubt.

I just got served with a CDRP - What's next?

How many days do you have to compose a reply after a CDRP is served? And would you consider that time to be sufficient enough to find a lawyer who can represent you?

    YCD.ca Transferred To Complainant

What is CIRA’s stand on domain reselling? I tried reading the CDRP policy but could not find investment and/or reselling (even for generic terms and acronyms) as basis for legitimate interest in a domain. Do CIRA members have a voice on what CDRP guidelines should include?

    YCD.ca Transferred To Complainant

This is apparently the nail in the coffin: “The evidence of the Wayback Machine shows that from January 2014 it carried depictions of an airliner taking off and an airliner landing and the words “Arrivals” and “Departures”. The Registrant at one point stated that Voodoo was responsible for the...

    Shill Bidding At NameCheap Auctions

I know the topic is about Namecheap, but I’m curious to know what happens to fake bids in WHC and MyID. Do they repeat the auction or do they offer it to the second highest bidder? I guess there’s no way to know as you can’t see who you’re bidding against.

How do you feel about using expensive domains as your personal email?

I’ve always wondered how they set this up. My surname is also taken in .ca and .com and the owners of the former are offering an email service for a small monthly fee. I noticed Ben doing this in a couple of his .ca domains. Maybe I should do this as well. 🧐

What are some good Email hosting plans?

That’s a good workaround, but for less than the monthly fee of one Google Workspace account, I get two users on Fastmail. Also, I’m trying to de-Google myself mainly for privacy reasons. I also know there’s mailbox(dot)org but I don’t have experience on that one.

Afterthoughts once a domain is sold

Ouch! I can only imagine the pang of remorse you must have felt. But on the positive side, a profit is still a profit no matter how small. It could have went the other way knowing the volatility of the market. The good thing about domains is that it builds value over time. So the loss is not...

Pretty much like financial investments (i.e. stocks, ETFs, crypto, etc.). After you bought it, don't think too much about it. I guess the takeaway from everyone's response is to make a calculated risk by knowing the enduser, leaving something on the table, and moving forward despite mistakes...

Removing a domain from your portfolio in WHC

Removing a domain from your portfolio in WHC

I think that’s the standard redemption grace period at Rebel. Expiring domains go to an RGP before they are released to the public. In this case, a cancelled domain may be classified as an expiring domain depending on the registry. Namecheap, for instance, will tell you that the domain cannot be...

Oh! Is that so? Makes you wonder then if you sold it at the right price or shouldn’t have allowed it to drop. 😆 Or maybe it’s a system limitation. I tried to make the request at WHC and this is their response: “Unfortunately, we don't delete domains/services for accounting purposes.” I guess deleting it from your account is not possible at this time. As some registrars have this option, I hope it will be implemented in the future.
