The term is trending big time and for the right investor trending terms can make money.

Two offers on the domain donotcomply.ca sice this post went up.

The second offer turned into a sale at 2.5k but fell through when I charged HST on the invoice.

Will have to see what happens with this one moving forward but it's funny that people think buying a domain should be tax free.

Goes to show though that trending tweets can turn into popular domain names.

I always quote prices with a +tax or +gst/hst or something to that effect. It's like godaddy not always revealing upfront the renewal prices. No one wants a hidden cost revealed after they agreed to a price.

I thought I was being really nice at 2.5k, never thought it would fall apart over tax.

I quote plus hst for larger deals too but this was a piddly little deal so I'm a bit surprised it went sour for a bit of tax.

I do see more and more twitter hash tags used as domains though

For the sake of an extra $300 or so, I don’t guess they wanted it bad enough.

Me personally, if I’m going to spend $2500 for a name, paying the extra for HST wouldn’t be an issue for me….. But maybe they didn’t like the fact that you were not up front about it. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

Its not about being upfront, what the heck has no tax in Canada?
That's very true. I'm just guessing that $2500 was pushing their limits as it was, and the HST was just the straw that broke the camel's back... Then again, who knows, maybe they'll come around and eventually pay it.
